Meet the franchisee behind the record-breaking first YO! kiosk in Dublin

In my last email, I told you all about how the first YO! kiosk at Tesco on Merrion Road was smashing all expectations with stunning sales figures. Well, we decided to catch up with franchise owner, Aayush Bashyal, and learn a bit more about the man behind the magic and his journey so far.

Aayush may be the proud owner of the very first YO! kiosk to be sited in a Tesco in Ireland, but the concept is anything but new to him – in fact, his family already owns 5 kiosks in the UK! When the UK kiosks were opened up to franchisees, it proved to be a real game changer for aspiring business owners, like those in Aayush’s family, who were keen to be a part of this extraordinary opportunity.

Purchasing their first kiosk back in 2023 when the franchise launched, the family enjoyed immediate success and followed up with 4 more location within the next 12 months. No wonder then that Aayush wanted to get in on the action when the concept was expanded to Ireland!

From engineer to entrepreneur – his own taste of the family business

“All my family have been involved in hospitality in one way or another, and my father owned a Nepalese restaurant. “ Aayush told us. “I took a different route to start with, training as an engineer, but after many years of working in the corporate world, I really wanted to do something of my own in the food world.

However, I know that running a restaurant means working a lot of very unsociable hours. My cousin ran his own 150 seat restaurant but decided he wanted a better work-life balance and sold it in order to take up this franchise opportunity himself. Running a kiosk still means he enjoys all the benefits of working in the food industry but it’s a lot less stressful and he has more time for his family. I wanted the same thing for myself.”

“All of us, including me, are very hands-on in the business. That’s the way we like to do it! This way we understand everything that is happening, and how everything works at every level.”
